I was out playing guitar with John when the speed started to come out! I felt like a song midwife. We recorded it on ‘German Afternoon’s’ then I recorded it on ‘Town & Country’ and it became a hit in Ireland. I recorded it with Nanci Griffith on ‘Other Voices in Other Rooms’ which won a Grammy. Talking to John on my radio show ‘Full Circle’, John said “I didn’t so much write ‘The Speed of the Sound’, as it more or less fell out of me”. This is a new cut with John and me. You can’t keep a great song down. Thanks John.
