Beyond the Pale is Philip’s fourth album. After decades of recording with some of the world’s leading singer songwriters such as Donovan, Guy Clarke, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Nanci Griffith, The Everly Brothers, Cowboy Jack Clement and Jim Rooney to name but a few.

This album was recorded by Daire Winston at Beechpark Studios, Rathcoole, County Dublin, Ireland.

Crystal Gayle duets on ‘Troubled Times’. John Prine duets on ‘Speed of the Sound’ and ‘Living in the Future’. Fran Curry plays Keyboard on ‘Beyond the Pale’. Recorded by Joe Sef at The GAF Studio, New Inn, Tipperary South.

On this album Philip used a 1961 Guild Acoustic, an Amistar Resonator Guitar, a 1957 Fender Stratocaster presented by Steve Wooly, then V.P. of Fender Corp. and Fender Blues DeVille Amps.

I would like to thank the “Mid Atlantic Rhythm Section”, Fran Breen, Percy Robinson, Gerry O’Connor, and Garvan Gallagher for a great job, and to Crystal Gayle and John Prine, “it’s so hot, is it not”. Thanks also to Daithi Connaughton.
